Creative Statement

With interests ranging from sound design and traditional film elements to experimental uses of  projection technology in a cinematic way, this short film reflects and captures all of our technical interests as well as some of our passions. It allowed for the integration of performance elements as well. Overall, the film strives to explore guilt and the experience following the loss of a loved one. It seeks to show the continuous progression of time past traumatic experiences.

The process of the piece was inspired partially by the projection work of Pablo Molina and a Lindsey Stirling's music video, "Transcendence": we sought to integrate the projection idea as seamlessly as possible into our particular narrative. We experimented with the combination of innovative technological technique and traditional film elements to create a somewhat cohesive storyline for our audience.

While the film does not fit into any body of previous work, it is a natural continuation of the work that all of us have done with its multitude of elements.

It allowed us, as artists, to truly bring our different sets of skill together as a team, as some of us have experience with audio editing and recording, while others have cinematographic knowledge. As creators, this project gave us the opportunity to delve into other aspects of film creation and production while letting us follow our passions throughout.

After viewing the work, we anticipate some questions: though the storyline does not present itself in a traditional fashion, we hope the story remains clear.
